Rules - The lay of the land.
Rules that are relevant to everything
G0. Don't be a Jerk.
We all like to engage in playful or cheeky banter with our friends, but no one likes playing with someone who is rude, disrespectful or just plain mean.
So don't insult, mock or otherwise belittle the other people on the server.
This includes any form of baiting or hate speech, "joking" or otherwise.
What defines "being a jerk" is up to staff discretion. Consider this your warning.
G0.5. No Political Discussion.
Politics is a topic that has caused repeated disruption on NP2 and has no significant relevance to the gamemode.
Players come on here to forget about the stresses of "Real Life" and have fun, so don't bring unnecessary conversation on the server that might cause conflict and disrupt the gameplay.
G1. No Prop Minging
This includes PropSpamming, PropBlocking, PropPushing and PropKilling.
G2. Speak English Only
This is an international server, zo Sprechen sie Englisch, bitte! Especially in server text chat.
G3. Don't Cheat or Hack
This means absolutely no hacking or any kind of cheating or abuse.
G4. Do Not No-Clip in Combat
This includes noclipping into or out of combat. Noclip is for building, not for performing magical assassinations.
G5. Staff's Word Is Law
Anything a Staff Member says overrules anything written down. Seriously, don't argue over it, they have more knowledge about the gamemode than you.
G6. Do Not Attack Builders/Vehicles in Harbour
They're trying to build, don't rain on their parade. Also vehicles in their harbour or in immediate proximity to it cannot be attacked unless they shoot at you first.
This means both vehicle weapons and small arms.
G7. Don't Ram
You should only ever collide with another vehicle WITHIN your class (I.E. boats/ships) to board it, you don't want to damage the paintwork... This means no Kamikaze planes.
G7.5. Vehicle Boarding
Ship to Ship - Marines may board an enemy vessel by having their captain get close enough for them to leap overboard onto it. Marines may also use a boat to come aboard the oil rig or come ashore the enemy harbour.
Aeroplane to Ship - A pilot may carry paratroopers on their aircraft to drop onto an enemy ship.The paratroopers must be in chairs and decend by parachutes onto the ship. A pilot may also drop paratroopers onto the oil rig or enemy harbour this way but MAY NOT just use their aeroplane as a convenient one way transport for themselves.
Airship to Ship - No boarding Ships with Airships, it just isn't fair. The Ship player has no way of manoeuvring out of the way and the Airship player could just hover above the ship and drop Marines on it.
Submarine to Ship - Submarines may surface next to unsuspecting Ships and board them, obviously if the Ship is armed then the submariner does this at their own risk
G8. No Abuse Of Expression 2
Radars (Or any Wiremod detection device hand-made by a player), Aim Assist*, Autopilot*, Blinders, Propkill Weapons, etc. If you're going to use E2 holograms for your vehicles, you must first have a physical body made of props that can be hit and destroyed AND the holograms MUST be parented to the props.
Any E2 device that gives an unfair aiming advantage over other players, such as a lock-on targeting are not allowed.
Any E2 device that allows a vehicle to be controlled without the input of a driver are not allowed.
G9. No Transatlantic Bridges or Artificial Oil Rigs
You want to cross the Sea? Build a vehicle. It's not rocket science. (G9.5 - No Rocket Science)
This means no building bridges to get from one landmass or spawn to another.
However non-bridge constructs such as floating defence platforms or sea-fortresses are allowed.
G10. Ship Colour/Details
No Invisible props, unless it's cosmetic (such as cannons/platforms in turrets).
Your ship must not wear the enemy's colour. Thruster sounds and effects are prohibited unless used for realistic aesthetic.
G11. Identification of Team
Your Vehicle should wear your team's colors.
If you don't use team colours, you cannot complain if you get attacked by friendly fire.
G12. Allowed Vehicles
This is a themed build and combat server, not a random sandbox server where you can do whatever.
The only allowed vehicles are Boats/Ships, Planes, Submarines or Airships (Blimps).
This means that other kinds of vehicles such as Tanks, VTOLs, Cars or Krakens are not allowed.
Also, you must be on board and be controlling your own vehicle; no remote control.
G13. Armor Whoring
Layering props to protect yo ass is not cool. If you're unsure if your ship is armor whoring, ask a staff member.
G14. Banning Contraptions
The Staff have the right to ban any contraption that they deem unfit for the gameplay or gameplay balance. If that happens, don't cry/yell about it.
Ship Designed Gear
Formally known as "Sernik's Dummy Gamemode"
Also accompanying the SDG items is a "Armament Points" system, you will see this at the lower left corner of your screen.
In addition to it's "Gold" cost, every SDG weapon and equipment has a Armament Point value, such as 1 old NP2 "Black Powder" Cannon taking up 1 Armament Point.
You have a maximum of 16 Armament Points to spend on your vehicle's weapons.
Generally the Armament Points system ensures that a vehicle class is using it's proper weapons, but regardless here is a OVERVIEW OF WHO CAN USE WHAT:
Boats (Ships) - Black Powder Cannons*; Flak Turrets, 50cal Machineguns, SDG Congreve Rockets; SDG Light, Medium and Heavy Turrets; SDG Torpedo Tubes; SDG Depth Charges; SDG Hedgehogs; SDG SONAR*, Oil Tanks, SDG Cargo Containers, SDG Ore Mining Equipment, SDG Fishing Nets.
* Only two forward or backwards facing Cannons (Only 4 cannons to a turret) and don't put them all on one side, balance them.
* SOund Navigation And Ranging, used for finding and tracking submarines.
Submarines - SDG Torpedo Tubes; SDG Air Tanks*; SDG Air Vents*; SDG SONAR.
* Submarine players need both of these to avoid drowning or suffocating.
Airplanes - Plane Turrets (Vickers MGs), Bomb Mounts; SDG Congreve Rockets*; SDG Heavy Torpedoes used on bomb mount*; SDG Plane Guns;.
* Only 2 SDG Congreve Rockets on a plane.
* Only 2 SDG Heavy Torpedoes on a plane, you MUST use the mount to drop them.
Blimps (Airships) - Black Powder Cannons; Bomb Mounts; 50cal Machineguns; Flak Turrets; SDG Light; Medium and Heavy Turrets.
In addition to these vehicle weapon parameters we also have a few rules that go along with use of the SDG items:
SDG1. Turret to size ratio
Think about the size of your ship compared to the turrets you want to use. You shouldn't put a Tempest on a small patrol boat etc.
If you're unsure, just check with an admin/moderator.
SDG2. Turret placement
Turrets should be clearly visible on your ship. Building around turrets is fine, but don't hide them inside props or encase them in a dome etc.
SDG3. Item Transportation
You can transport your newly acquired SDG weapons & equipment from the rig via ship, airship and submarine.
These rules will change as time goes on as we discover new quirks and loopholes.
Make sure you set your vehicle's contraption type before leaving harbour, you can do this with the Set/Check Contraption Type tool under the "Naval" section of the toolguns (bottom of the list). You can't use many of the vehicle specific weapons if you don't set contraption type, and failure to classify your vehicle will bring a staffmembers wrath upon you!
If it sails the seas...
B1. 4x7x1 PHX Size Or Larger
We don't want bath-tub rafts zipping around... This isn't Waterworld, make a ship!
I mean... You wouldn't dare go to sea in a bathtub in reality, don't try it on here.
B2. Maximum 15mph Speed
Go any faster and your boat will probably break. Also, use realistic handling and acceleration.
B3. 5 Props Minimum
You should be building a boat or a ship, not sailing a cheap raft around.
B4. Oil Tank to Ship Size Ratio
A boat/ship must never carry a oil tank bigger than it's size! Be reasonable.
Also, Oil Tanks may not overlap each other.
B8. ڷ <><
This is Bait This rule is used to check if a player has actually read the rules.
If it's going in deep...
S1. Realistic Design
Your submarine must be a realistic size and shape, nothing tiny now.
S2. Maximum 10 MPH Speed
You can only go 10 MPH, and you must have realistic turning speed.
S3. 5 Props Minimum
You're going deep into the ocean, if there's not enough props you'll collapse under pressure!
S4. No Oil, Ore or Fish Transport
Submarines are the most difficult vehicles to detect and hunt, so it would be unfair if we allowed you to carry economic items on them.
If it glides in the skies...
P1. Realistic Design and Flight
Your plane has to look realistic, including size and shape, so no flat planes. It must also fly realistically, this means being able to glide (at speed, not hover or free float). Use the Fin Tool!
P2. Maximum 50mph Speed
No Supersonic Jets, keep to a nice speed.
P3. 5 Props Minimum
Good luck building plane without 5 props though...
P4. Do Not Purposely Fly Underwater
You're in a plane, not a submarine. Keep to the skies at all costs. Also, don't bother Altair with them.
P5. No Landing On/Near the Rig
You can only land near rig when there's a Aircraft Carrier nearby, not in the water.
P6. Plane sizes
The minimum size of a plane must be at least 4x4 in a "t" like shaped form.
Also note that the wings can never be shorter than the body length.
P7. No Bombing/Torpedo Bombing Under the Rig
Yes, no bombing under the rig, no torpedo bombing either. It is annoying to see one's hard work going through the drain because a smartass decided to bomb everyone under the rig (thanks Iraptor).
P8. No Oil, Ore or Fish Transport.
Would you really consider carrying heavy metals, oil, or trying to fish from a airplane? Come on.
If it hovers like the Hindenburg...
A1. 4x7x1 PHX Size or bigger
Your airship must be at least 4x7x1 PHX, and have a realistically sized balloon.
A2. Maximum 10mph Speed
You can only go 10mph, and you must have a realistic turning speed.
A3. 5 Props Minimum
You wouldn't fly a plate. Build something of substance.
A4. No Oil, Ore, or Fish Transport
You can land on the rig, and drop off personnel, but you cannot transport economic items.
